<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">BS is actually the correct TONE Baad Dog!! That is very intuitive on your part. Thanks SU97 and Butkuss. I feel right at home with the board. Just for information purposes Butkuss both daughters graduated from Auburn (wife and I, Bham Southern/Samford).<br />
I wanted to clarify a couple of items that SU Dog mentioned in the post above. As I stated before I will be a reader and not much of a poster. The issue concerning possible changes in the athletic department concerning any part of athletics at Samford several years ago was not instigated by me or any other member of the staff I was associated with. Getting to know the NCAA compliance personnel and any of the procedural policies, regs and directives came months after I resigned to spend more time with my family, work and other obligations. I never contacted anyone outside of Samford through my years as a coach, or at any time after I was a coach. I attempted to run a clean, class, competitive program that the university would be proud of. SU Dog gives me more credit than I deserve. I had great competitive, student/athletes to work with. If anything I held them back from being even better. I did not cause any ripples or problems that I am aware of and was never under any question from anyone on a personal basis. <br />
I was happy for the opportunity to lead, instruct and give of myself to the university and students. My wife and I knew going into the commitment that it would take away from the family, work and other obligations (Samford athletics was not my primary line of work). We both felt it was worth the effort to be a part of the athletic department at that time. When the moment came where I felt I could not be effective I took myself out of the equation by resigning. Samford is a special place to me. The recent changes that I have observed at Samford University (athletic department included) appear to be very positive. Thanks for allowing me to clarify.</div>

I think the guys are going to see this as a must win and play it with intensity and a sense of urgency. Not saying they wouldn't have anyway, but I think the FSU loss has to shaken their collective trees a bit and they will be looking to make things right.</div>

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">Of course those years are among the best of UNA football. Goober had a end named Harlon Hill that was the Rookie of the year in the NFL and made All Pro several times. One story I was told is that Harlon talked Papa Bear, George Hallas into giving Goober a workout to see if he could play in the NFL. Story goes that Goober was given 10 throws to Harlon in front of Hallas. With no one covering Hill Goober under threw him 10 straight times. So much for Pro football and on to Mayberry. Goober still does his Lindsey film festival every year at UNA and makes a couple of games a year. Harlon Hill has his name attached to the trophy given to the best palyer in D2. He still makes all TUNA games. Coach Hill has a real hard time walking now. Goober looks like he could still play.</div>
